Her many accolades include an Academy Award, British Academy Film Award and Primetime Emmy Award. She has also won two Golden Globe Awards. Time magazine named her one of the top 100 influential people around the globe in 2006 and 2015, and Forbes named her one of the World's 100 Most Powerful Women in both 2019 and 2021. Forbes declared her the most successful actress in the world in 2021. Her net worth is estimated at $400 million. Witherspoon first appeared on screen in 1991 , as a teenager. In 1999, she made her breakthrough with the part of a supporting actress in Cruel Intentions. She was also famous for her portrayal of Tracy Flick as Election's black comedy. Her performances in Legally Blonde (2001 and its sequel 2003) and in Sweet Home Alabama (2002 ) earned her more recognition. She was awarded the Academy Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of June Carter Cash in the musical biopic Walk the Line. After a downturn in her career during which Water for Elephants (2011) was her only box office success, Witherspoon decided to make an comeback to the industry and produce and act in Cheryl Strayed, the drama Wild (2014). The film resulted in her receiving a second Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. Since then, she has been mostly involved in TV productions. She has also appeared in a variety of female-led adaptations of literary works. They include the HBO drama series Big Little Lies (2017-2019) as well as the Apple TV+ drama series The Morning Show (2019-present) as well as the Hulu miniseries Little Fires Everywhere (2020).
